Spader Dam

Tchaikovsky
after a novel by Pushkin

"Kamraternas' (The Comrades') 'Queen of Spades' succeeds in bringing Tchaikovsky's gambling addiction into the absolute present"
"The hundred-year-old aesthetics of silent film perfectly blend with contemporary pop culture."

- Dagens Nyheter, Camilla Lundberg, 2025-06-18

"This three-act piece condensed into a reduced chamber play for four singers lasting 80 minutes. The staging, directed by Anna Holter, musical arrangement by Loke Risberg and musical directed by Karin Haglund (at the piano), feels in no way diminished. In a scenography consisting of torn film screens (where some background scenes are shown) with a lightly soot-stained patina, the singers and the two musicians perform their parts absolutely right, stylishly goth-clad in leather, latex, and black lace.”
“It is a beautiful, well-sung, tight, and accessible Swedish short version. As well as yet another testament to the fact that it is the free groups that provide the most interesting performing arts – even in summer."
